  1. Once your backup is complete and you have your new computer setup and is installed and running, the next step is to copy over your files and folders from the external hard disk. You can do this two ways, you can individually copy the contents of each folder into the respective folder on the new computer from the external drive.
  2. On the next screen, you can select a different Back Up My Files time and a different Keep My Backups option by clicking on the Down Arrows. Here, select the destination folder to save the backup file and click on 'Start Backup'. You can use both, local or external drive to store the Windows 10 backup image. In case, you want to backup specific folders, you can choose 'File Backup'. And for complete hard disk backup, choose 'Disk Backup'. The Backup and Restore Tool was first introduced by Microsoft in Windows 7. The tool also made its way into Windows 8, but was removed in Windows 8.1.

System image is a snapshot of the entire System including Operating System Files and Programs Files. Hence, it has the ability to recover your entire computer in an instant.

1. Backup Files Using Backup and Restore Tool

Follow the steps below to make a backup of all your personal files, photos and data, using the Backup and Restore Tool.
